About the proposed overflow car park

Wilson Botanic Park in Berwick continues to experience increasing visitation, with up to 7,000 visitors per day and 1,500 cars requiring parking. While the park’s 132 on-site car spaces have served the community, demand now exceeds availability, particularly during peak times such as weekends and holidays.

To address this, Council proposed an overflow car park at the Kramer Drive entrance, designed to manage excess parking needs during school holidays, public holidays, weekends, and a limited number of special events (including various evening events). The proposed overflow car park would accommodate between 60 - 100 additional vehicles. After assessing multiple locations, this site was chosen for its flat terrain, ability to be locked when not in use, and surface treatment that allows grass growth while supporting up to 8 tonnes of weight.

We invited community feedback in various ways from 18 August to 14 September to ensure we heard from residents living close by and the broader community. You can read the Community Engagement Summary Report here.
